RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Brazil and Mexico will fine-tune their preparations for the 2024 Copa America with a friendly in the United States, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Tuesday.
The match has been slated for June 8, according to a CBF statement, which did not specify a venue.
The Copa America, to be played in 14 U.S. cities from June 20 to July 14, will feature an expanded 16-team format.
Brazil are scheduled to begin their campaign on June 24 against the winners of the playoff between Honduras and Costa Rica. The five-time world champions will also meet Paraguay and Colombia in the group stage.
Mexico will play their tournament opener against Jamaica on June 22 before later facing Ecuador and Venezuela in the group stage.
Brazil and Mexico last met in the round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when Brazil prevailed 2-0.
