NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Aug. 7 (PIA) -- The threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) did not deter the awarding of the much awaited Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to more than 40 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Cadiz and Escalante cities, Negros Occidental.
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Negros Occidental 1- North awarded CLOAs to 26 ARBs of more than 11 hectares land in Barangay Mabini in Cadiz City
The 11.5879-hectare covered landholding was formerly owned by Elsansi Agro Development Corporation.
Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Hannah Jubay of DAR-Cadiz City led the awarding ceremony.
"What we seek in the department is to secure the tenurial status of our beloved farmers in the lands they till. Now, as new landowners, we urge you to bear a great harvest for your respective families and remember the tax responsibilities and other obligations that come with it," Jubay told the beneficiaries
Meanwhile, in Escalante City, 20 ARBs received their CLOAs of the 10-hectare covered landholding which was formerly owned by Alexander Rivera in Barangay Dian-ay.
Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO)- Escalante City Maricel Seduco congratulated the new land owners.
"At long last, you have now your CLOAs which legalize you as the owners of the land. May you all have good harvests and use the land wisely to better your lives," Seduco said.
These DAR-conducted continuous field activities proved that despite the inconveniences brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the service for the Filipino people continues. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
