WASHINGTON -- A new ensemble forecast published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday projects up to 240,000 COVID-19 deaths in the United States by Nov. 7.
The new national ensemble forecast predicts that 3,400 to 7,100 new COVID-19 deaths will likely be reported during the week ending Nov. 7, and a total of 229,000 to 240,000 COVID-19 deaths will be reported by that date. (US-Coronavirus-Projection)

PARIS -- France on Thursday reported its biggest daily infections with coronavirus, as 30,621 people have been tested positive in the past 24 hours, health authorities said.
The new daily record high came after the previous record of 26,896 reported on Oct. 10. (France-Coronavirus)

MEXICO CITY -- Authorities seized two tons of cocaine that was discovered floating in the ocean off the coast of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero, the Mexican Secretariat of the Navy reported on Thursday.
Navy aircraft spotted 95 packages, eventually confirmed to contain cocaine, floating in the ocean. Troops were mobilized to retrieve them and the drugs were then transferred by boat to Acapulco. (Mexico-Ocean-Cocaine)

KHARTOUM -- The Sudanese government on Thursday announced that eight people were killed during a protest in the eastern Sudan's Kassala State.
"Clashes took place on Thursday between protesters and a joint force in Kassala which resulted in the killing of eight people including a member of the joint force," Faisal Mohamed Saleh, Sudan's information minister and government spokesman, told reporters. (Sudan-Protest-Deaths)
