TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Dec. 1 (PIA) - - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) region 2 has assured that there is enough supply of basic and prime commodities in the region this yuletide season.
Linda Tan, chief of the Consumer Protection Division, said they have been conducting monitoring of prices and inventory of commodities in the region 2 following the implementation of price freeze after the series of calamities that have severely affected the whole region.
She said the supply of basic and prime commodities have already normalized while the high demand brought by the series of relief operations to the typhoon affected families has already weakened.
"We have sufficient supplies in the groceries and other market places in the region for this Christmas season," Tan said.
She reminded the business players to maintain the prizes of all basic and prime commodities as price freeze will be effective until January 17, 2021.
Tan also stated that they will resume the conduct of post audit monitoring to all business establishments to assess their compliance to the health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
"The operational capacity of the business establishments is gradually increasing already but we need to ensure their compliance to the health standards to avoid the further spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019," Tan added.
She also said that based from their monitoring, there are no increase on the prices of "Noche Buena" items and that its supplies in the market are enough. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
