BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.36 percent at 3,576.89 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.01 percent lower at 14,794.25 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.15 trillion yuan (about 180 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from the 1.22 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to paper-making and agricultural machinery industries led the gains. Those in sectors of medical equipment and lab-grown diamonds post lackluster performances.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.64 percent to close at 3,473.37 points Wednesday.
