Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 21 (ANI): Over a dozen people lost their lives and several others were injured in three separate road accidents, two of which occurred in Madhya Pradesh and one in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured, from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
The two accidents that occurred within the state include a Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) fell into a ditch after colliding with a culvert in Raisen district on Monday morning and an overspeeding SUV hit two bikers in Tikamgarh district on Sunday night.
In Raisen, six people died and three sustained injuries after a Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) collided with a culvert and fell into a ditch. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital. Six people died while three sustained injuries. The travellers were coming from Patna after attending a wedding function and heading towards Indore.'
In the Tikamgarh incident, an overspeeding SUV struck two motorcycles on Kundeshwar Road near Tagore Hall. Four people, including a man, his wife, and their 3-year-old son, died on the spot, along with another man riding the second motorcycle.
Tikamgarh Kotwali police station in-charge Pankaj Tripathi said, 'The SUV was speeding and hit two bikes, leading to the death of four individuals.'
Furthermore, in the third incident, four residents of Madhya Pradesh died and three others were injured after an SUV collided with a truck on the Neemuch-Ajmer National Highway near Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, according to media reports.
In a post on X, CM Yadav expressed his condolences and wrote, 'Received sad news about the untimely death of residents of Ujjain, Tikamgarh and Indore districts in the road accidents in Tikamgarh and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan's Chittorgarh. It is extremely painful that these tragic road accidents have ended the dreams, hopes and happiness of many families in a moment, which cannot be compensated in any way.'
'I have given instructions to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of all the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured from the Chief Minister's voluntary funds. I pray to Lord Mahakal to give the bereaved families the strength to bear this unbearable pain, grant a place to the departed souls at His Lotus feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured. My deepest condolences are with all the bereaved families in this hour of grief,' CM Yadav added in the post.
The state government has begun processing the compensation and is closely monitoring the condition of the injured. (ANI)
