New Delhi [India], May 8 (ANI): Following the successful conduct of Operation Sindoor by Indian Armed Forces against Pakistan, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday asserted that India is resolved to uproot terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
'Under the leadership of PM Modi, it is our resolve to uproot terrorism. We made a historical mistake that was done in 1960 - that is, the Indus Waters Treaty, but now, we are rectifying that mistake,' Chouhan said while addressing a gathering in New Delhi.
'We don't provoke anyone, and we don't forgive those who trouble us. Terrorist places have been demolished. Under the leadership of the PM, we are committed to eliminating terrorism from its roots,' Union Minister Chouhan said.
Meanwhile, the locals in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir are bearing the brunt of heavy shelling by the Pakistani Army across the Line of Control (LoC) since the night of May 7 in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.
On Thursday, due to ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control, thirteen civilians lost their lives in Poonch while a total of 59 people, 44 of them in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, have sustained injuries, the External Affairs Ministry said.
The External Publicity and Public Diplomacy Division of the MEA gave the information.
The intense shelling by the Pakistani army along the LoC came in retaliation for the May 7 'Operation Sindoor' in which India's armed forces targeted a total of nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Pakistan has been resorting to unprovoked small arms ceasefire since the night of April 25-26.
Residents in border villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri returned to their homes on Thursday morning after they were forced to flee their homes in panic, seeking safety in the wake of the intense shelling by Pakistan.
The villagers who returned today said that the shelling has caused significant damage to residential properties, with people fleeing the areas along with their whole families as well as livestock. (ANI)
