New Delhi [India], September 2 (ANI): BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday attacked the Congress and RJD, accusing them of resorting to abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a joint event in Bihar.
Poonawalla claimed the opposition, frustrated by their anticipated defeat in Bihar, has insulted the Prime Minister over 150 times and is now defending and justifying the derogatory remarks instead of condemning or apologising.
'Today, Congress is no longer 'Gandhi-wadi' Congress. It is 'gaali-wadi' Congress. It is not 'gali-gali' Congress. It is 'gaali-gaali' Congress. The entire dynasty of Congress and RJD, who are frustrated with their impending loss in Bihar, have started using the most foul and abusive language for the Prime Minister, having abused the Prime Minister 150 times. Now they have crossed the limits and abused his mother, and the language used instead of condemning it, instead of apologising for it, the ecosystem of Rahul Gandhi and Tejaswi Yadav is defending it and justifying it and lying about it,' Poonawalla said.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi also responded, saying that the remarks were not just an insult to him but to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in the country.
'Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar... These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country,' he said.
'The struggles (Tapasya) of a poor mother, the suffering of her son--these young princes born into royal families cannot understand. These 'naamdaar' people were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them,' he said.
He further criticised the Congress, saying the party has never tolerated backwards or extremely backwards people moving ahead. 'Congress has never tolerated a backwards or extremely backwards person moving ahead! They think that 'namdaars' have the right to abuse 'kaamdaars'... that is why they abuse,' he said.
The Prime Minister also lauded the role of women in defeating the RJD in Bihar, saying they were instrumental in removing the party from power.
'Bihar has come out of that darkness after a long battle. All you women of Bihar have played a very big role in removing RJD and defeating it repeatedly. That is why, be it the RJD or Congress, these people are most upset with you, women, today. These people want to take revenge on you; they are looking for an opportunity so that they can punish you,' he said. (ANI)
